Over the weekend our partners in Europe, 2Excell Magnetics, completed an irrigation soil profile. They watered a plot of soil with 10mm of water and measured how far the water penetrated into the soil at regular time increments. Check out the test results, Magnation Water Irrigation Profiles. You can see that in just one hour the water penetrates 180 mm (7 inches) through hard clayey soil. This test relates to what we are observing in the Bakersfield test as well. Because the water is penetrating further into the soil, it promotes deeper root growth, and further penetration means less water lost to evaporation. Less water loss means the plants have access to more water allowing for healthier, more sustainable plant growth.
